The LinkedIn Post That Made Me Stop Scrolling

I was scrolling through LinkedIn when I came across a post that genuinely made me stop.

It wasn't the headline that caught my attention.

It was one simple sentence.

"My friends, I have some unfortunate news to share. I found out today that my job at XXXX has been eliminated, effective immediately. I made it just short of 25 years and have worked with (and learned from) so many amazing engineers. "

I read it again.

Twenty five years.

Just short.

That one sentence carried more weight than any lengthy explanation could.

The employee explained that he was only weeks away from reaching his 25 year milestone with one of the world's largest technology companies when he learned his role had been eliminated as part of a restructuring.

Near the end of his post, he wrote something else that stood out to me.

"If you're hiring for a ... let's connect."

No anger.

No blame.

No bitterness.

Just resilience.

That mindset stayed with me long after I finished reading.

A Question Worth Thinking About
